Mistakes are those things that keep coming, uninvited. Small ones and big ones often feel like second nature to us ; we seem unable to escape them. Whether we hate them or dread them, they can feel manageable—survivable, even. However, the one place we definitely don’t want to go is regret.
With more than 8 billion of us and approximately 20 quintillion animals, not to mention our most cherished Mother Earth, it seems that mistakes have repercussions ranging from minor to significant—this is putting it very lightly.
On a more positive note, there is actually plenty of room for many other possibilities amidst all our mistakes, no matter how many we make.
When we look at a photo of a man gazing out at a vast ocean, we envision the boundless sea as a metaphor for all the opportunities that lie ahead of us.
All our past mistakes are behind us. There will likely be many more ahead of us, but amongst those mistakes also exists a vast expanse of opportunities for improvement—carefulness, correctness, accuracy, efficiency and more.
Let’s forgive our blunders, failures and missteps , and eagerly look forward to the opportunities ahead that can lead us to a wonderful and meaningful life.
