Whether you live in a country that is said to have only one season or in Japan where traditional Japanese shichijuni kou calendar divides each Japanese year to “seventy two seasons”, do we not wake up to a new day with afresh air on our face every morning?

What if each day we can wake up to a unique and special season of our own. Maybe we can name it, savor it, and truly relish each day similarly as in the ancient Japanese calendar. Ultimately, we can’t argue, our Mother Earth most times is very kind to us.

Here are some examples of how the traditional Japanese calendar describing each new day of their 72 seasons, each last about five days :

Bush warblers start singing in the mountains, Fish emerge from the ice, Caterpillars become butterflies, Sparrows start to nest, First cheery blossoms, Wild geese fly northward, First  rainbow, Bamboo shoots sprout, Silkworms start feasting on mulberry leaves, Rotten grass becomes fireflies, Distant thunder, Warm winds blow.

Is it not magnificent ? And some of our favorite are :

Frogs start singing, Hawks learn to fly, Thunder ceases, Crickets chirp around the door, Rainbows hide, Daffodils bloom, Salmon gather and swim up stream, Deer shed antlers, Ice thickens on streams, Great rains sometimes fall, Evening cicadas sing.

So for five consecutive days we created our own seasons, admittedly not as beautifully puts as in the ancient Japanese calendar, but we can call it our very own calendar at least. They are as follow :

Purslane tiny yellow flowers bloom late in the morning, Rain chases the doves away from porch, Old turtle emerges from hibernation, Small birds make beautiful chirp in hot breeze, Wind ceases & Birds hide
.
Should us not be inspired to treat each day as a new season of our own and truly appreciate our day with nature. After all we’re quite sure that our Mother Earth is rooting for us to enjoy her creations to the fullest.
